Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment. It is used to help the immune system, the body's infection fighting system, kill cancer cells.

 

There are different types of immunotherapy, and they help the immune system in different ways. These are called

  • immune checkpoint therapy
  • adoptive cellular therapy
  • cancer vaccines
  • monoclonal antibodies (like targeted therapy)
  • cytokine therapy

To determine which type is best for you will depend on your type of cancer and overall health. Sometimes more than one immunotherapy will be used in order to help the immune system, or they will be used with chemotherapy or other cancer treatments.
