Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted disease (STD).

 

Most people who are infected with Chlamydia do not show symptoms, and therefore it has a tendancy to spread more quickly. While in men Chlamydia can cause urethritis, in women it can cause cervicitis. Usually Chlamydia is treated and goes away before it is established, however one it is established, Chlamydia usually clears up slower in men than in women.

The main treatment for Chlamydia is an antibiotic (either doxycycline or azithromycin) which will typically clear up the infection within two weeks. This is taken orally and can be prescribed by a medical professional.
